John D. Harrell

John Douglas Harrell, 73, of Russellville, Ala., passed away Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at Russellville Hospital.
He was a native of Texas but had lived in Russellville for the past 40 years. He was retired from TVA and was a member of the Church of Christ. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Funeral services were Nov. 20 at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel in Russellville with Shane McGregory officiating. Burial was in Tharptown Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Harrell; daughter, Janet Parker and husband Wayne of Coldwater, Miss.; grandchildren, Aaron Parker and Justin Parker; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin B. and Christine Harrell, and two sons, Bruce and Glen Harrell.
Pinkard Funeral Home assisted the family.
Clara Normaree Holland
Normaree Holland, 86, Russellville, Ala., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008.
She was a native of Franklin County and a member of West Highland Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, canning, gardening and especially cooking for her family and friend, and she was a special mother that was always there for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a special blessing to all people whose hearts she touched and God truly has received an angel.
The funeral service was Nov. 20 Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Coy Marbutt and Bro. Stanley Hargett officiating. Interment was in Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Russellville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mel and Edna Mitchell; brothers, Wylie, Odis, Kelly, Dot, John and Jerry Mitchell; sisters, Ora and Ollie; precious grandson, Bill Caudle; and great-grandson, Gus Mitchell.
She is survived by her husband, Fred T. Holland of Russellville; daughters, Carolyn Gould and husband Jay, Pansy Seal and husband Bobby, Jeanie Williams and husband Ricky; son, James Robert Holland and wife Dee; grandchildren, Steven Caudle, Robert Holland Jr., Tina Nelms, Tanya Wallace, Thomas Holland, Joey Seal, Brandon Seal, Jennifer Mitchell, Kristy Jeffreys, Kendra Flannagan; and 15-plus great-grandchildren that were the blessings of her life.
Pallbearers were Joey Seal, Brandon Seal, Steven Caudle, Robert Holland Jr., Thomas Holland and William Wallace. Honorary pallbearers were her great-grandsons.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Decker, Russellville Hospital and Terrace Manor Nursing Home for their wonderful care and helping both her and us through these difficult times. We would also like to express our thanks to the many friends, neighbors and family for their loving support and prayers.

Sarah Ruth Comeens

Sarah Ruth Comeens, 78, of Double Springs, Ala., passed away Monday, Nov. 17, 2008 at her residence.
She was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church and was retired from Pinnacle Bank.
Funeral services were Nov. 19 at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville with Michael Jones and Dennis Steward officiating. Burial was in Macedonia Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Odie M. Comeens; children, Steve Comeens and Sheila Barnett; sister, Clara Nell Lake; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clint and Bessie Cook; and brothers, Harbert E. Cook and Jimmy Cook.
Pinkard Funeral Home assisted the family.
Charles Delmer Kent

Charles Delmer "C.D." Kent, 97, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, at Southern Magnolia Estates in Golden, Miss.
He was born July 26, 1911 in Golden, Miss. to James Calvin and Nora Smith Kent. He was a consultant engineer for 30 years and a member of First United Methodist Church in Red Bay. He served as a member of the Red Bay Housing Board and was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Air Force serving in World War II.
Funeral services were held Nov. 20 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dallas Culver officiating. Burial was in Ridge Cemetery in Golden, Miss.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lillian King Kent of Red Bay; daughter, Nora Kent of Key West, Fla.; sisters, Avoe Pounders of Dennis, Miss., Dimple Paden of Red Bay and Lavelle Thornburgh of Amory, Miss.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Carrie Farris, Vernell Long and Nettie Roberts.
His nephews will serve as pallbearers and his Sunday school class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Deaton Funeral Home assisted the family.
