PC faces tough challenge at Clements

PHIL CAMPBELL – Although the Phil Campbell football team has struggled in its first two games this season, head coach Michael Parker said he felt his team was getting better.
In the opening week, the Bobcats were shutout by Lawrence County and turned the ball over six times. Last week they lost 23-13 to a Tanner team that was ranked No. 10 in Class 2A and only committed four turnovers.
This week the Bobcats will play their first road game of the season at Clements. It will be another tough challenge for Phil Campbell as the team tries to earn its first win since the 2006 season.
The Colts will be trying to rebound from last week's 38-14 loss to Lexington, a team that was 1-9 last year.
In that game quarterback Jamison Bridges passed for 212 yards and one touchdown. Bridges is a junior, but he carries quite a bit of experience and is poised under pressure.
Entering week seven last season, the Colts were one loss away from being eliminated from playoff contention. Bridges led the team on a four-game win streak to qualify for the Class 3A playoffs. Three of those wins required late rallies by the Colts.
Two of Bridges receivers from that team – Seth Bachelor and Jacob Eaton – return this season and LeMac Askins adds speed to the receiving corps. Askins caught a 30-yard touchdown reception against Lexington.
