Meeting called to accept employee's

With Tuesday's municipal election looming, Russellville now has one less employee to staff the city clerk's office after accounting clerk Janet Saint vacated her full-time position by resigning Friday.
"We received a letter of resignation from Janet Saint," said mayor Johnny Brown. "The resignation was effective (Friday)."
Council members Burns "Buckshot" Saint, Thomas "Tinker" Malone and Craig Grissom voted 3-0 to accept Saint's resignation during a special called meeting noon Friday that included a brief executive session to discuss the letter.
When reached by phone Friday afternoon, Saint declined to comment on the reasons for her resignation. Saint was hired in October 2006 and her last day was Thursday.
Grissom said the position will be listed as vacant but the hiring process could be lengthy.
"This job will have to go through civil service, and that could take several months," Grissom said. "I was surprised by her resignation. In her letter, (Saint) thanked the council for all their help … I thought it was a positive letter.
"We've had a lot of retirements in the past couple of years, and we've probably had to replace every department head except the city clerk (Kim Wright) – she has been here for 23 years and has been kind of a stabilizer for us."
