Local track to host N.E.A.T. Series

Little Power Sports Track on U.S. 43 in Russellville will host 30 N.E.A.T. Series motocross races tomorrow beginning at 6 p.m.
LPS, which opened three years ago and started hosting the N.E.A.T. Series this year, attracted a track-record 220 riders at the June 28 race.
"We had been averaging 100 to 125 bikes but everyone seems to be finding out about the track," said Greg Little, owner and operator of LPS. "I haven't been promoting it because I've been trying to make sure we can accommodate people and put on a good show."
The track, which features four different dirt courses, including a lighted supercross course for night racing, has newly-renovated restrooms and an announcing tower.
"We may double that 225-bike number at the race Saturday," Little said. "And all we lack now are adding bleachers."
The gates open at 10 a.m., and admission is $10 per adult. A child 14 and under can enter for free with one adult paid admission and a copy of the race article.
"We are trying to get a dash for cash for the pros to get those guys to come out, and there will be a concession stand and vendors out," Little said. "We are also going to have free giveaway drawings for T-shirts, stickers, video games, umbrellas, goggles and gear.
"This is family-oriented event, and it's something kind of different for people who are used to going to football games. A lot of kids enjoy this sport, and we're just trying to get the sport in this area to grow a little bit."
