Red Bay prepares for upcoming election

RED BAY – Preparations for the upcoming municipal election monopolized the regular city council meeting held Monday night.
The council voted to accept David Tiffin as the only candidate for council place #3. Mayor Jeff Reid presented Tiffin with the certificate of election during the meeting.
The council also voted to set the compensation for Absentee Elections Manager.
Resolution states the manager will be paid $50 per day for 45 days prior to the election, and for the election day.
The council also voted to pay the poll workers $100 for their services during the election: $25 for the class and $75 for the election.
"This is the way the county compensates their poll workers," Reid said.
The poll workers for the upcoming election are as follows: Ted Malone, inspector; Judy Malone, registration list clerk; Tammy Jeffreys, poll list clerk; Carol Rogers, ballot clerk; Mary Mills, poll official; and Jane Williams, poll official.
