'Evening at the Roxy' set for July 24

The seventh annual W.C. Handy Music Festival "Evening at the Roxy" will be held Thursday, July 24 at 7 p.m. in downtown Russellville. The evening promises to be one of the most entertaining events of the week-long festival.
Entertainment will be provided by the Russellville High School jazz band and local entertainers, including Kim Stanley Clontz, Danyelle Hillman, Ella West, Miss RHS Anne-Marie Hall, Emma McDowell, Miss Alabama Veteran Lauren Oliver, Petra Malmquist, Pierce Malmquist, Ariel Murray, Franklin County Idol winners Mollie Flanagan, Taylor Townley, Hannah Keller and Ethan Pharr, and other guests.
The Arts Council recognizes the following sponsors for their generous support of the W.C. This event attracts people from all over Alabama and neighboring states. The money spent by tourists will help the local economy and keep the arts alive in Franklin County. Everyone is encouraged to come and enjoy the evening. Tickets will be sold at the door, and admission is $5. There is no charge for children ages 12 and under.

Swamp John's will be in front of the Roxy on Jackson Ave. on the same day from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. to sell plates for $9. Tickets are available from any arts council member or call 332-3270. Drive-ups are welcome and all proceeds from this event will benefit the Roxy renovation project.
