Officials disappointed in VW decision

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) _ Gov. Bob Riley says he's disappointed Volkswagen has chosen Tennessee for an assembly plant rather than north Alabama.
But Riley says he is pleased the plant will be located close to Alabama.
VW officials in Germany decided Tuesday to put the plant in Chattanooga, Tenn. The company had considered a site in Limestone County, which could have provided an economic boost to northwest Alabama.
Franklin County officials said barely missing on major projects to the south, in Marion County, and the east, in Limestone County, recently have been disappointing, but the area is in better shape than ever before to attract a major industry of this magnitude.
