City elections now set

Qualifications for the upcoming municipal elections ended yesterday, and today will mark the official day of campaigning for the candidates.
The candidates has qualified for the municipal elections:
Vina, D.W. Franklin and J.F. Scott for mayor; Mary Hammock is unopposed for council place one; Bill Moomaw and Carol Davis for council place two; Robert Moomaw is unopposed for council place three; Marshall Rogers is unopposed for place four.
Phil Campbell, Kenneth Lynn and Jerry Mays qualified for mayor; Roy Nagle is unopposed for council place one; Danny Brown is unopposed for council place two; Eddie Barton is unopposed for council place three; Dewey Cooper and Elvis Engle qualified for place four; and Jim Cartee is unopposed for place five.
Hodges, Nick Howard and Edward Crouch qualified in the mayor race; Raymond Cantrell and Samantha Gann for council place one; Shirley Holland and Melissa McHenry for council place two; Betty Gober and Greg Scott for council place three; Heather Clingan and James "Jim" Isom for council place four; and Paul Clingan and Ronald Holland for council place five.
Red Bay, Jeff Reid, Bobby Forsythe, and Lester Deaton qualified for mayor; Mike Kennedy, Joel Rooker, and Pat Hammock for council place one; Mike Stockton and David Martin for council place two; David Tiffin is unopposed for council place three; Katena Armstrong, Charlene Fancher, Ron Harris, and Ann Wilkins for council place four; and Steve Garrison, Brad M. Bolton, and Ricky Holland for council place five.
Officials for Vina, Hodges, Red Bay, and Phil Campbell are elected at large, which means that all registered voters can vote for each position.
However, Russellville Municipal officials are elected by districts, and voters can only vote for the candidate that is running in the district in which the voter resides.
The candidates for Russellville are Troy Oliver, Burns "Buckshot" Saint, and Greg Willis for mayor; Craig R. Grissom, Jeff Masterson, and David Palmer for district one; Johnny C. Brown, David Kennedy, Willard Mitchell, and William Nale for district two; Roy Cornelison, Gary Cummings, and David Hester for district three; Matt Cummings, Charles A. Dale, Arthur Elliott, Tommy Hamilton, and Lanny H. Hubbard for district four; and David Reed Grissom is unopposed for district five.
All municipal elections in Alabama will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 26.
