Douglas Blankenship Jr.

Douglas "Dougie" Blankenship, Jr., 18, of Vina, died June 23, 2008, in Colbert County.
He was born Nov. 1, 1989, in Michigan to Douglas and Lauri Wood Blankenship, Sr. He was a roofer and attended First Baptist Church in Red Bay.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Douglas Wood.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 28, 2008, at Deaton Funeral Home with Bro. Nathan Davidson officiating.
Burial was in Atwood Cemetery.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Lauri Salow and Dennis Salow, of Vina; his father, Douglas Blankenship, Sr., of Michigan; two brothers, Dion Joseph, of Vina, and Brian Joseph, of Michigan; three sisters, Dawn Blankenship, of Tuscumbia, Mary Dolsen and Taylor Salow, both of Vina; his grandparents, Pauline Wood, of Indiana, and Wilbur and Anita Salow, of Red Bay; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lucy A. Thornton Bruton, of Russellville, died Thursday, June 26, 2008, at ECM Hospital.
Mrs. Bruton was born August 29, 1923, and was a lifelong resident of Franklin County. She was a member of Bethsaida Baptist Church and was retired from Robbins Floor Products.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2008, at Pinkard Funeral Home with burial in Bethsaida Cemetery. Rev. Stanley Hargett and Chaplain Phillip will be officiating.
She leaves behind a daughter, Margrew Byrd (Billy), of Florence; a granddaughter, B. Sheree Hansard (Rick), of Morton, Ill.; great-grandchildren, Kayla and Russell Hansard, of Morton, Ill.; brothers, Thurlo Thornton (Agnes), of Muscle Shoals, Ollie W. Thornton (Betty Jo), of Russellville; six nieces and four nephews; an aunt, Fairy Hicks, of Russellville.
Pallbearers will be Russell Hansard, Jamie Harris, Ronnie and Roger Allen, Shannon Holloway and Paden Myrick.
Honorary pallbearers will be Oneal Uptain, Curtis Hicks, Landon Smith, Jim Myrick, Donald Heaps, Mark Lane and Steve Reed.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Russell Drewey Myrick and Jewel T. Bruton; parents, William Alex Thornton and Lucy B. Adcock Thornton; sister, Katherine Myrick; brothers, Alex Jr. and J.C. Thornton, all of Russellville.
We wish to extend a very special thanks to Sunbridge Nursing Home staff in Muscle Shoals, Hospice Wiregrass and Chaplain Phillip, Dr. Cunningham, and all nurses on the sixth floor at ECM Hospital. Your kindness will always be remembered.

Lawrence Ervin Borden, 63, of Hartford, died Thursday, June 26, 2008.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2008, at Russellville Church of God with Bro. George Sansbery officiating. Burial will be in Aycock Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Mary Borden; brother, Rufus E.L. Borden; sisters, Lillian Blankenship, Mary Louise Quillen, Essie Stanfield; granddaughter, Ashley Michelle Harvey Borden.
He is survived by his sons, Shawn Borden, Stevie Borden; sisters, Brenda Vandiver, Linda Weaver, Shirley Blankenship, Freida Hopper, Ruby Darty, Nellie Stanfield, Lela Taylor; brothers, Curtis, Elton, Gilbert and Carl Borden.
