World War II veterans deserve honor flight

By Staff
A group of Franklin County men recently flew to Washington, D.C. as part of the Honor Flight program that operates out of Huntsville.
Honor Flight flies World War II veterans to our nation's capital at no expense to the veteran to see the World War II Memorial.
It is a program that is most worthwhile and we are pleased to know that Franklin County's heroes are being included and having the opportunity to see the memorial that honors them.
They truly are the "Greatest Generation."
Unfortunately, we are losing them at as rapid a pace as 1,000 per day some studies show.
While it took far too long, until 2004, for the memorial to be built, it is just a small token that could be paid to those soldiers.
Thankfully programs such as Honor Flight are allowing those brave men and women to see the memorial that they greatly deserve.
We encourage all county WWII veterans to take advantage of this program and visit their website, honorflight.net, to learn how you could take part.
It is a small way of thanking all of you for giving so much.
