Nursing home to be commended for award

By Staff
Burns Nursing Home of Russellville was one of only five Alabama nursing homes and 299 nationally who received an Excellence in Action award Wednesday.
This year's award was presented to My InnerView customers who completed a resident or family satisfaction survey in 2007 and had a minimum 30 percent response rate. The facility had to score in the top 10 percent of facilities with respondents rating the nursing home as "excellent" to the question, "What is your recommendation of this facility to others?"
The annual award recognizes those nursing homes which have made a commitment to continuous quality improvement and have successfully made quality a priority to better serve their customers' needs, the state nursing home association said.
It is comforting to see that local residents are being cared for into their latter ages.
Burns is just one of many fine facilities in our area that provides long-term and short-term care to seniors. They are to be commended for their strong support from residents and those who have placed loved ones in their care.
