Brown, Wilson named all-conference

NASHVILLE – Martin Methodist golfers Lyndi Brown and Clay Wilson, both of Russellville, were each recently selected to the 2008 TranSouth All-Conference team.
The 2008 TranSouth Tournament was played on the General's Retreat Course at the Hermitage Golf Course in Old Hickory, Tenn. For the women, it was a par-72, 5,850-yard course with 18 golfers competing. For the men, it was a par-72, 6,832-yard course with 36 golfers competing.
Brown, a junior, finished tied for fifth place with a score of 178 and was one of among only six to make the TranSouth All-Conference team. This is her second year to make the All-Conference team, after also being selected her freshman year.
The Redhawk women as a team placed fourth in the tournament. Jaclyn Walters finished tenth, while Jessica Holt was 15th and Jessica White placed 16th. Trevecca Nazarene University took the title for the fourth consecutive year.
Wilson, a senior, finished in fourth place with a score of 149. He was one of seven men to make the TranSouth All-Conference team.
The Redhawk men finished third overall in the tournament with Union University taking the title. Two Martin Methodist golfers placed in the top 10 as Zack Sisk finished eighth and Andy Beckham was tenth, while Neylan Roberts placed 16th and Derik Elmore was 17th.
The Redhawks also finished eighth in the NAIA Region XI Tournament, which was held April 28-29 at the Legacy Golf Course in Springfield, Tenn.
