Community bazaar coming Saturday
By Staff
I am never one to complain about having a day off.
I love them.
Although I had only worked one week since coming back from a week's vacation, I was still glad to have Monday off for Memorial Day.
But it seems like off days only put you behind on certain things. This week, for example, is extremely busy for us here at the FCT.
We are one week from county primaries and working on a special election tab that will run in Friday's paper. Our advertising department has been working hard to get that ready for you to have before going to the polls next Tuesday.
There are the general end-of-month duties that roll around each time the calendar flips and not to mention only one day to get today's paper ready to hit the stands.
On top of all the usual responsibilities we have here, our staff has been working to put the final touches on Saturday's first Franklin County Times Community Bazaar.
We are very excited about the possibilities in store Saturday.
Several area businesses will set up booths as well as people from the general public.
If you have items that you have been looking to sell at a yard sale or garage sale, look no further than the community bazaar.
Booths will line the floor of the Ralph C. Bishop Community Center in Russellville from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday raising money for a really good cause.
There is a $20 fee to set up at the bazaar, but vendors keep all of the proceeds raised.
The money generated will allow our circulation department to put more newspapers in our county schools. The Newspapers in Education program is an important way for our students to learn about current events, history and even math.
I had one teacher who told me last week that her students love getting the paper and how useful it is for classroom exercises.
We want to make sure that each student gets the same opportunity.
By coming out to the bazaar Saturday morning, you will have the opportunity to check out some great deals from local merchants while helping the kids of Franklin County at the same time.
If you would be interested in placing a booth at the bazaar, please call 332-1881.
We look forward to seeing you Saturday.
