THARPTOWN – Tharptown eighth-grader Braeden Sellers enjoys participating in several different sports while maintaining a 4.0 grade point average.
"I just like to learn new things," Sellers said. "I like to be at school."
Sellers participates in basketball, softball, track and cheerleading and also participates in extracurricular activities that feed the mind, instead of the body.
"I am on the math team, scholars' bowl and annual staff," Sellers said.
While Sellers enjoys learning new things, her favorite things to learn about are events that have already happened since her favorite subject is history.
"I like learning about the past and everything is interesting to me," she said.
Sellers said that she likes learning about history so much that she wants to one day become a history teacher, but she hasn't decided on a college yet.
"I want to go anywhere that will give me a basketball scholarship, but if I don't get a scholarship, I want to go to Tennessee," she said. "But, what I would really like is to play basketball for Tennessee under Pat Summit."
In her spare time, when she's not playing sports or studying for an exam, Sellers likes to be with her friends, and there's no other place better to hang out than at school.
"I like being at school and seeing my friends," she said. "I like the social element at the small school."
Even though the school year is ending, Sellers said that she won't have too much time to rest. She plans to go to five basketball camps, two cheerleading camps and a softball camp during her summer break.
She is the daughter of Matt and Susie Sllers.
