Local students benefit from Farm Day

Even though a little inclement weather ruined the second day of Farm Day at Johnny Mack Morrow's, it was still a worthwhile event.
Students from across the county converge annually on Morrow's Red Bay farm to learn about farm living.
For many of them, it's an eye opening exposure to what life was like when their grandparents were children.
It takes them to a world without Play Stations and X-Boxes. In may cases, it's a world without electricity.
During the course of the day, students learn about the different things including milking cows, collecting honey and seeing a blacksmith's shop at work.
We appreciate the work of Representative Morrow and Community Education Director Susan Hargett as they expose our youth to this way of life.
You can never truly understand where you're headed until you appreciate where you've been.
Showing these children what life was like so may years ago gives them an understanding of how the world has developed before they were even born.
