Col. Dudley James Davis, U.S. Army, ret.
May 8, 2008
Funeral services for Col. Dudley James Davis, U.S. Army, ret., age 84, of Alexander City were held May 12 at the First Baptist Church of Alexander City.
Dr. Harris Cook, Dr. Skip Lowery and Dr. Gerald Hallmark officiated. Burial with full military honors followed in the Slocomb City Cemetery with Mr. Steadman Shealy, Jr. speaking.
Col. Davis passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at his residence. He was born December 11, 1923 in Slocomb, AL to Frank J. Davis and Bessie Woodham Davis. He had been a member of First Baptist Church of Alexander City since 1966, where he was former Director of Adult One Sunday School and was former Director of Adult Sunday School at Normandale Baptist Church in Montgomery. He was a 1942 graduate of Slocomb High School, obtained a BS degree from the University of Alabama in 1949 and a MA degree in 1950, attended Officer Candidate School in Ft. Benning, GA and U.S. Army Command and General Staff College in Ft. Leavenworth, KS. Col. Davis was awarded the Legion of Merit and was a World War II Veteran. He was former High School Coach in Eclectic, former branch manager of Commercial Credit Corp in Montgomery and Ford Motor Credit Corp. in Montgomery, former Owner of Dudley Davis Ford in Alexander City and former President and Chairman of the Board at WACD Radio Station in Alexander City. He served as former President of the Alabama High School Football Officials Association in Montgomery, Dixie Lions Club in Montgomery, AL, Alexander City Lions Club, Automobile Dealers Association in Montgomery, served as former Vice President of the Alexander City Chamber of Commerce, was a former member of the Small Business Administration Advisory Council for the State of Alabama, Board of Directors of Eagle Bank in Opelika and Boy Scout Council, and former Chairman of the Board of Eagle Bank in Opelika.
He is survived by his wife, Waynell Tinney Davis of Alexander City; children, D. Frank Davis and wife Lea of Birmingham, Jama Davis Rogers and husband Bob of Russellville and Angela J. Davis of Dothan; grandchildren, Court Davis and wife Katherine of Birmingham, Kitty Rogers Brown and husband Tucker of Birmingham, Ike Rogers and wife Trista of Russellville and Preston and Cricket Davis of Birmingham.
He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Mary "Kitty" Davis.
Pallbearers will be Tony Channell, Jeff Brassert, Doug Roberts, Stanley Sides, James Poole and Steve Kerley. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Adult One Sunday School Dept.

Michael "Cookie" E. Scott

Michael "Cookie" Eugene Scott, 47, died Thursday, May 8, 2008 at Russellville Hospital.
Mr. Scott was a lifelong resident of Franklin County. He was a truck driver and had worked for Bullington Lumber Company.
The funeral was held May 10, at inkard Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville with Mark Daniel officiating. Burial followed in Glendale Cemetery in Colbert County.
Survivors include parents, Wilson and Geneva Scott, Tuscumbia; sister, Deborah Scott Cobb, Littleville; brother, Gary Scott, Tuscumbia; nieces and nephews, Terri Fuller, Donnie Clark, Kyle Scott, Kati Scott, Ryan Maddox, Cade Fuller and Kailee Fuller.
Pallbearers were O. J. Michael, Kevin Fuller, Brian Kimbrough, Terry Cobb, Donnie Clark and Roger Kennedy. Honorary bearers were Bobby Joe Taylor, Ricky Murray and Kenneth Harrison.
He was preceded in death by sister, Pam Clark.
Bettye Jane Hall Thompson Nash
May 2, 2008
Memorial service for Bettye Jane Hall Thompson Nash, 79 will be Saturday, May 17 at 11 a.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville with Brother Ken Bush officiating.
Mrs. Nash died May 2 in Tuscumbia. She was a member of Central Park Baptist Church in Decatur.
Mrs. Nash was born in Russellville, graduated from Russellville High School and received her nursing degree from South Highlands in Birmingham.
She was a registered nurse for more than 45 years working most of those years in Florence. Her passion was her family, home, taking care of others, and gardening.
Survivors include her niece, Susan Hall Foreman; nephew, Timothy R. Hall; sister-in law, Sandra C. Hall of Huntsville and many cherished cousins, relatives, and friends.
Mrs. Nash was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond R. Hall and Virginia Marie Bowling Hall; husband of 35 years, Clarence F. Thompson and husband of six years, Horace E. Nash; children, John Mark Thompson, David Carlson Rhodes; brother, Raymond R. "Pete" Hall, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to American Heart Association or a favorite charity.
Gloria Irene Smith

Gloria Irene Smith, of Littleville, went to be with the Lord Saturday morning after an extended illness.
Funeral services were held May 12 at Pinkard Funeral Home with Richard Parker officiating.
Burial followed at Hyde Cemetery in Littleville.
Gloria was born in Colbert County and lived in Littleville all her life. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Russellville. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald D. Smith; parents, Helen and Rufus Lawson and brother, Rayburn Lawson.
She is survived by daughters Dana Carpenter and husband, Tim, Denise Wilson and husband, Alan, all of Russellville and Gerri deLuna and husband, Dan, of Muscle Shoals; grandchildren, JaCey Wilson, Malloy Wilson, Kayla deLuna, Nick deLuna and Russ Carpenter.
Pallbearers were Hoyt Dillard Gene Ellison, Charles Foreman, Bo Goss, Buryl Smith and Edwin Sockwell.
Troy "TC" Clark Kilpatrick
May 11, 2008
TC Kilpatrick, 76, passed away May 11 at his Russellville home. Graveside services were held May 13 at Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Russellville with James McCullar officiating.
He lived in Franklin County all his life and was a member of Freewill Baptist Church. He was a stone cutter at Alabama Limestone.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Kilpatrick, of Russellville; children, Billy Don Kilpatrick and wife, Belinda, of Russellville and Michael Kilpatrick, of Sierra Vita, Ariz.; grandchild, Beverly Seals; great grandchildren, Kallysta Kilpatrick and Talynn Seals; step-grandchildren Justin Sharp and Lena Soto.
He was preceded in death by his parents, GW and Willie May Kilpatrick; son, Ricky Allen Kilpatrick and brother, William Kilpatrick.
