County does its part to fight terrible illness
By Staff
Our thanks go out to the hundreds and thousands of local residents who supported this year's Relay for Life this weekend.
Though the threat of rain loomed even as last minute preparations were being made, it couldn't dampen the spirits of the local teams and cancer survivors.
Over the course of the past several years, great strides have been made toward the eradication of cancer. As recently as 20 years ago, a cancer diagnosis was a virtual death sentence. Now, the survival rate continues to climb. There's every reason to believe that, maybe only a few years down the road, cancer treatments may be less evasive and hopefully all forms will be treatable in all stages.
Without the help of local Relay organizers and participants, would be years behind where we are now. Our thanks to each of you as we all hope, search and pray for a cure to this horrible disease.
