Red Bay softball defeats PC 5-4

RED BAY – The Red Bay varsity softball team held off Phil Campbell 5-4 Tuesday afternoon as Emily Cox struck out seven hitters in seven innings while allowing nine hits and no walks.
Phil Campbell (4-5) struck first with two runs in its first-at bat but Red Bay also scored a run in the first inning to make it 2-1.
The Lady Tigers used a three-run third inning and added another run in the bottom of the sixth to take a 5-3 lead after Phil Campbell pushed across a run.
The Lady Bobcats scored again in the top of the seventh to cut the lead to 5-4 but Red Bay stopped their rally.
Kim Clark took the loss for Phil Campbell with one walk and a strikeout and 13 hits allowed in seven innings.
Red Bay's Lauren Williams, Taylor Hester and Aimee Jackson each went 2-for-3 with two singles and a run scored, while Ashley Frame and Emily Cox both had two doubles.
Tiffany Miller went 2-for-3 for Phil Campbell with a run scored, single and double, while Chasity Morgan went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, a single and double. Amber Chaney went 2-for-3 with a single and double, and Alexis Maggerise added a triple and a run scored.

PHIL CAMPBELL – The Phil Campbell junior varsity softball team earned a 15-0 three-inning victory over Belgreen Monday afternoon.
Lindsey Jackson struck out two and allowed only two hits and no runs as she improved to 7-0 on the mound.
Phil Campbell scored 11 runs in the first inning, three in the second and one in the third.
The Lady Bobcats' Jessie Halcomb went 1-for-2 with a double and two runs scored, while Kaysie Pounders went 1-for-1 with a single, two walks and two runs scored. Katrina Jimenez went 1-for-1 with a single and also scored a run.

RED BAY – The Phil Campbell junior varsity softball team earned its 11th victory this season by beating Red Bay 11-1 Tuesday.
Jackson (8-0) earned the win for Phil Campbell by striking out seven hitters in three innings, while allowing two hits and two walks. She also went 2-for-3 with two singles and a run scored.
Phil Campbell and Red Bay each scored a run in the first inning, while the Lady Bobcats added two more in the second to take a 3-1 lead before putting th e game away with eight runs in the top of the third.
Halcomb and Pounders each had a walk, single and two runs scored, while Taylor Scott drove in a run and hit a double and Brooke Holland went 1-for 2 with a single and a run scored.

Vina 0
THARPTOWN – Jess Myrick pitched a no-hitter Monday as Tharptown defeated Vina 23-0.
Myrick struck out nine hitters while giving up only one walk in three innings of work to improve to 6-3.
Hollie Hines, Laken Barnett and Myrick led the Lady Wildcats (6-3) with three hits each.

MOUNT HOPE – Mount Hope snapped a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the sixth inning with three runs off errors to beat Belgreen 7-3 Tuesday.
Loren McVicker (4-3) took the loss on the mound for Belgreen (9-4).
