Local Piggly Wiggly publishes cookbook

RED BAY- Shoppers from several area Piggly Wiggly stores have chipped in their favorite recipes to share with others.
The employees and customers of Piggly Wiggly in Red Bay, Belmont, Miss., and Iuka, Miss., sent in more than 600 recipes to generate a cookbook.
Ashley Blackburn, assistant manager of the Red Bay store, said all the recipes were compiled, sorted and cataloged before being sent to the cookbook publisher.
The book, titled Mr. Pig's Cookbook, will be available to customers April 1.
"We haven't done a cookbook in five years," Blackburn said. "It's a way for our customers and employees to share recipes and for them to interact with each other."
In addition to having their recipes in the cookbook, each customer had a chance to win one of 50 free books that will be given out.
"Twenty employees will also receive a free cookbook," Blackburn said.
The stores have approximately 110 employees combined.
Blackburn said the cookbooks would be affordable for everyone.
"This is a non-profit project," Blackburn said. "We just want to be able to pay for the cost of printing."
