Damos Hicks
February 29, 2008
Damos Arvil Hicks, 87 of Red Bay, died Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, at Red Bay Hospital. He was born July 31, 1920, in Golden, Miss., to John and Ada Hicks.
He was retired from Red Bay Hospital after 19 years. He was preceded in death by a grandson, six sisters, two brothers and his parents.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Altar Baptist Church with Bro. Paul Reynolds officiating the service. Burial was in the Altar Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Hicks is survived by his sons, Charlie Hicks (Pauline), Tommy Hicks (Beverly), Jackie Hicks (Deborah), and Hollis Hicks (Janet), all of Red Bay; daughters, Ellen Bohannan of Bonneville, Miss., and Lucille Wallace of Golden, Miss.; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Pallbearers for the service included Gary Credille, Michael Paul Nichols, Bruce Miller, Tyrone Thompson, Gene Burns, and John Thomas Hampton.
Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay assisted the family.
Tracy Brand
March 5, 2008
Tracy S. Brand, 73, of Red Bay, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at Red Bay Hospital. He was born May 6, 1934, to Jim and Lillie Emma Mauldin Brand. He was a construction worker and was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and two sisters.
Funeral services were held on Friday, March 7, 2008, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Bro. Ronnie Reese officiating. Burial was in the Ridge Cemetery.
Mr. Brand is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ivylene Brand; children, Tracy Wayne Brand (Sue), Martha Brand and Lesa Warren (Rocky): sister, Lalar Mae Garrett of Scottsboro; grandchildren, Cindy Kelton, Bobby Warren, Angie Perry, David Brand, Diana McCullar, Allen Lambert, Dustin Brand, Steven Vinson, Keith Vinson, Eric Lambert, Troy Lambert, Jenny Garrett, William Carter, and Tanya Carte; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers for the service included Bobby Warren, David Brand, Allen Lambert, Thomas Kelton, Justin Perry and Joe McCullar.
Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay assisted the family.
Shirley Bryant
March 4, 2008
Shirley Ann Bryant, 72, of Moulton, died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at her residence. She was born on November 14, 1935, in Randolph County, Ark., to John and Pearl Jackson Inness. She was a homemaker and a member of Aldridge Grove Church of Christ in Moulton. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 6, 2008, at Aldridge Grove Church of Christ in Moulton with Bro. Edward White and Bro. Neal Inness officiating the service. Burial was in the James Cemetery in Ravenden Springs, Ark.
Ms. Bryant is survived by her husband of 52 years, James C. Bryant; children, Bob Bryant (Nancy) of Auburn; James Bryant (Vicky) of Dorsey, Miss., Scott Bryant (Sarah) of Tremont, Miss., and John Roberts (Melissa) of Arcadia, Fla.; brother, Neal Inness (Beulah) of Ravenden Springs; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers for the service included Matthew Bryant, Corey Bryant, Ethan Bryant, Thomas Bryant, Caleb Bryant and Zachary Bradford.
Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay assisted the family.
Floyd "Big Jim" Raper
February 25, 2008
Floyd "Big Jim" Raper, 86 of Hackleburg, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2008. He was a native of Franklin County and was employed as a railroad track foreman for ICG Railroad.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2008, at Hackleburg First Baptist Church with Hulon Bishop and Jerry Pounders officiating. Burial was in the Cedar Tree Cemetery.
Mr. Raper is survived by his wife, Patricia Wise Raper; children, Jean (Roy) Cleveland, Earnest (Annie) Raper, and Eddie (Sherry) Raper; grandchildren, Regina Jeff Cleveland, Anthony Raper, Jon (Leslie) Raper, and Jason (Crystal) Raper; great-grandson, Hayden Raper; sisters, Eva Mitchell, Rena Holland, and Willene Kichens; and special cousin, Haley Melton.
Mr. Raper was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Raper; parents, Josie Raper and Rendie Black; and brothers, Willie Dell, Johnny an Leburn.
Hackleburg Funeral Home assisted the family.
