Thanks Huckabee voters

By Staff
Jerry Fancher
Judy and I express our thanks to each of you who voted in the presidential primary on Tuesday.
We especially thank the Huckabee voters for helping Gov. Huckabee win Alabama. We were elected as Huckabee delegates to the Republican National Convention that will be held in Minneapolis, Minn., in September.
We consider it a privilege to represent the 4th Congressional District as delegates, and will cast two of your electoral votes for Gov. Huckabee.
Our votes on the party platform will reflect the conservative beliefs of the people of the state of Alabama. We will fight to see the Republican Party's position on the important issues reflect your conservative values.
Franklin County has 21,107 registered voters and 6,391(30.3 percent) cast votes on Tuesday. In the 2004 primary 5,806 votes were cast. There were 2,522 more Republican votes cast in 2008 than 2004 in Franklin County.
On the Democratic side, there were 1,995 fewer votes cast this year in Franklin County.
Alabama has 2,723,232 registered voters and 1,081,340 (39.7 percent) voted in the primary. There were 17,292 more Republican than Democrat ballots cast in Alabama on Tuesday. This follows the statewide trend that the Republican presidential candidate wins Alabama.
Franklin County Republicans followed the state trend in supporting Gov. Huckabee as he gathered 60.7 percent of the vote and Sen. John McCain received 27.9 percent of the vote.
Franklin County Democrats gave Sen. Hillary Clinton 76.4 percent and Sen. Barack Obama received 18.2 percent of the votes. The Democrats in Alabama did not agree with the Franklin County Democrats as Sen. Barack Obama was the choice of Democratic voters.
The upcoming presidential election will be the most important the United States has faced. Who America elects as president will affect each of us as well as our children and grandchildren. Your vote is important and you should never take it lightly.
