RHS singers named to all-state choirs

Twelve Russellville High School students are busy preparing for upcoming concerts as part of the All-State Show Choir and All State Choir programs.
RHS Choir Director George Crummie said both of these choirs are highly sought by high school students, and that it's an honor for Russellville to have 12 students named to these groups out of all who auditioned.
"The All-State Show Choir is a group of 60 select students from across the state," Crummie said. "Hundreds of students try out for this group each year."
Tucker Hammock, Anne-Marie Hall, Alicia Crutchfield and Jordan Burcham were named to the All-State Show Choir last October.
"This group recently preformed at the Alabama Music Educator State Conference held in Tuscaloosa," Crummie said. "They are busy preparing for an upcoming performance at Samford University on March 14."
Pierce Malmquist, Nick Bradford, Tucker Hammock, Jordan Burcham, Lindsay Cash, Anne-Marie Hall, Alicia Crutchfield, Emma McDowell, Kaitlyn Mixon, Elizabeth McClellan, Emily Cash and Sydney Johnson were selected for the All State Choir in November.
"The All-State Choir is three groups of about 200 students, so literally thousands of students from across the state audition for the choir," Crummie said.
The All-State Choir is also preparing for an upcoming performance at Samford University on March 15, Crummie said.
"I am very proud of these students," Crummie said. "They have worked very hard to achieve this honor, some even taking private lessons at home."
The students receive their music in August every year in order to prepare for auditions held later in the fall.
"Anne-Marie Hall has been a part of All-State Choir since the seventh grade," Crummie said. "And we are very proud of that."
Crummie encourages community members to make plans to support the students at their upcoming performances at Samford University.
