Changes in faces and places

By Staff
Jonathan Willis
Each of us made a choice at one time or another about the job or career that we would have.
Some people can look back at their choice and know they did exactly what they should have done. Others, however, will always question their decision or wonder about the circumstances that led them to that.
No one is always completely satisfied, no matter how fortunate they may be.
There are things in each of our jobs that we love, and things that we don't love quite so much.
Well, one thing I do love about my job is the fact that every day will be different than the one before. New things pop up all the time that totally change what I have planned to do.
I really like that. I can't get too settled into one thing because tomorrow will be something new.
I don't know if I get bored easily or what, but I like waking up in the morning and wondering what is going to happen that day.
But the thing I love most about my job is meeting all of the different people I get to deal with. People that I might not otherwise have gotten to know.
I have always considered myself to be somewhat reserved and shy. So the idea of approaching or calling someone and asking things that I really hate to ask has never been fun for me. But it is part of the job and there are certain things that readers need to know, so we have to ask.
But there are also great stories and people out there who I wish we could ask more about. People like Tom McKnight.
Tom moved to Russellville a couple of years ago on a journey to find more information about his family and their history. As a native of New York and a longtime employee of the United Nations, I am sure the thought of ever living in Franklin County, Ala., never crossed his mind.
But he is here and what a great addition he is to our community.
Had it not been for my job, I may have never gotten to know him and I would have really missed out.
So as we move forward, there are many more people out there that I look forward to getting to know.
That's what makes my job worth doing.
