Norris leading Ranch Board

RED BAY-The Quinn's Ranch Board of Directors recently elected a local businessman to serve as their chairman for the next year.
Lanny Norris was elected to the position in late December by the newly appointed board members, replacing longtime chairman Ricky Tucker, who served seven years.
"I told Shae [Lowery] and the board that I'd be glad to serve as chairman this year and re-evaluate things at the end of year and see where we are," Norris said.
As chairman of the board, Norris will take a leadership role and assist the Ranch with regular business and fundraisers.
"The Ranch is a faith-based mission, and because of that we have to spend a great deal of time fundraising," Norris said.
He said that he would be helping a lot with those fundraising efforts so the Ranch can continue to stay open, and hopefully grow.
"I'd like to see the Ranch gain enough support so that we know without a doubt that a set amount of money will come in every month," Norris said. "When we get to that point, then we can start working on expanding and growing."
Norris added that the Ranch doesn't need a ton of people giving extremely large amounts of money.
"If we could get a couple of hundred people giving the same amount to the Ranch every month so that we can count on them, that's when we'll start to grow," Norris said.
The ultimate goal, he said, is to add more homes in order to bring in more children in need.
"I'd like to see us open a girls home as well. But we have to get a support base that we know is going to be there month after month."
He added that he is excited about working with the Ranch because it is a faith-based ministry, meaning that the home is funded by donations, and fundraisers planned its director, Shae Lowery, and its board of directors.
"It's [working with Quinn's Ranch] a hands-on way that we can reach out to people, to children in need," Norris said.
Quinn's Ranch is a licensed, Christian-based boy's home dedicated to helping children who are abandoned, neglected or abused.
The Ranch is licensed to house up to seven boys. For more information on how you can help the Ranch, call 356-8900.
