MONTGOMERY- Gov. Bob Riley has awarded $24,958 to enhance law enforcement in Franklin County. The grant will enable the county sheriff's department to purchase a patrol car.
"Law enforcement agencies across Alabama are called upon daily to protect and serve those in their communities and often they are required to place their lives in danger," Riley said. "It is essential that we supply them with reliable equipment and transportation enabling them to efficiently perform their jobs."
Riley notified Probate Judge Barry Moore, chairman of the County Commission, that the grant had been awarded.
The grant was awarded from funds made available to the state from the U.S. Department of Justice.
The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs will administer the grant.
