Archives getting more visitors

The Franklin County Archives saw more than 1100 visitors in 2007, and they expect another strong year in 2008.
Archive Volunteer Nick Nichols said the Archives had visitors from across the nation and two foreign countries.
"We have everything you will need to research your family tree here," Nichols said.
Marriage licenses, census records, wills, death records and other important documents are housed in the building dedicated to preserving the past.
The Archives recently received additional will records and a microfilm reader.
"We have Alabama census records, as well as census records from other states that can be found in microfilm," Nichols said.
The Archives is currently working on completing their Veteran's Park, which will include memorials from every war beginning with World War I.
"We are still selling bricks as a fundraiser for this project," Archive Director Chris Ozbirn said, "but we'd like to get this wrapped up as soon as possible so that we can have a dedication ceremony."
The Archives is also hoping to receive a piece of military equipment to add to the Park, however no timetable has been set.
"We will also be adding flagpoles to the Park so that we can fly the flags of the different military branches," Ozbirn said.
