Don't let tradition die
By Staff
For decades, children have written letters to Santa. Some are last minute wish lists and some from "naughty" boys and girls bargaining for presents with promises of better years ahead.
In any case, most of us can remember penning at least one letter to Santa. The lucky few remember getting a note in reply.
This year, it seems as if that tradition is beginning to die off. The Russellville Post office saw only eight letters this year. The county wide total is probably less than 50 letters.
Writing Santa used to be part of the holiday routine. You write him a letter and find him at the mall to sit on his lap for some last minute things you just couldn't fit in.
While it's too late this year, make a point to spend a few minutes with your children, huddled over a piece of paper and mail it to Santa next year. Kids grow up too fast as it is. Making one more holiday memory won't hurt.
