BIRMINGHAM – The Tharptown offense was clicking on all cylinders Friday night in a 60-18 win over Parkway Christian Academy.
Daniel Scott scored five touchdowns, including his third kickoff return for a score this season, and Tyler Cagle added a quarterback keeper for a score as the Wildcats improved to 2-2.
Scott started the scoring barrage with a first-quarter kickoff return for a score after a two-touchdown return game against Mount Hope in Week 2.
Parkway Christian responsed with a long pass completion for a touchdown, but the extra point was blocked by Trevor Hallmark.
Tyler Cagle scored on a quarterback keeper, and Chad West pounced on a fumble in the end zone to put the Wildcats ahead 28-6 at halftime.
Parkway Christian scored on another passing play in the third quarter, but Cagle and Scott each scored again to put Tharptown ahead 44-12 after converting both two-point conversions.
Parkway Christian scored on another long passing play to make it 44-18, but Jacob Parker scored on a 50-yard interception return to increase the Wildcats' lead to 52-12 after Hallmark converted the two-point conversion.
Scott added the final touchdown when he found the end zone after catching a screen pass from Cagle, who added the two-point conversion for the final score.
Tharptown plays at St. Bernard next Friday at 7 p.m.
