Eighth-grade team places third in tourney

In Russellville volleyball action last week, the eighth-grade team finished third in a tournament held last Saturday at Russellville.
The tournament was organized as a fundraiser for the seventh and eighth-grade teams and featured several area teams, including Muscle Shoals, Addison, Haleyville, Deshler, Lawrence Co., Wilson and Florence.
The Russellville varsity volleyball team dropped matches against the Hatton Lady Hornets and the Brooks Lions Monday night in a tri-match at Hatton High School.
Russellville (9-13) lost 16-25, 19-25 to the Lady Hornets and 17-25, 15-25 to the Lady Lions.
Senior setter Calli Davis rung up four assists, five aces, 11 assists and 15 digs to lead the Lady Golden Tigers. Junior libero Halie Harvey led on defense with 12 digs and two aces, while sophomore middle hitter Erin Reynolds added 11 attacks, nine kills and three blocks.
The Russellville junior varsity squad hosts Colbert Heights tomorrow at 4 p.m., while the varsity squad tips off at 5 p.m. Both teams will play their matches in the old gym due to constuction.
