Booster Club to host football meet and greet

The Russellville High School Booster Club is sponsoring a free meet and greet on Friday, Aug. 3 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.
The purpose of the event is to allow supporters of the football program to meet the players, cheerleaders and coaches, including head coach Doug Goodwin.
"We have a new coach in town, and we have a lot of parents and people in the community who haven't had the opportunity to meet him," said Melody Fergerson, secretary of the booster club. "Some of us met him during baseball season, because he was hired in April. We asked him to participate, and it was his idea that the players attend."
Fergerson said the club will set up tables on the field for refreshments and autographs. Children are encouraged to wear their favorite Tigers T-shirts for the autograph session.
"We're having it on the field because we didn't think we would have enough space inside the fieldhouse," Fergerson said. "It's a come-and-go type of event, and you can come and shake (Coach Goodwin's) hand."
Fergerson said she is encouraged by Goodwin's coaching philosophy.
"He seems to be every fair to everyone, and he seems to encourage players to be involved in different sports," Fergerson said. "I believe he has the team's best interest, and I do hope he makes some changes that need to be made."
