Bishop honored for service

The Russellville Board of Education recognized its former president for his service and dedication during the regular board meeting held yesterday afternoon.
Board President Jerry Groce and Superintendent Dr. Wayne Ray presented Dr. Tim Bishop a plaque for his service and dedication to the Russellville City Schools.
Bishop served on the school board for 10 years.
"It is a real honor to serve as a Russellville board member," Bishop said. "I know that every one on the school board, past and present, have the children's best interest at heart."
In addition to Bishop's recognition, Ray presented various certificates to board members who completed different levels of training essential to their position on the board.
The board voted to approve the salary schedules for the 2007-08 school board with the 7 percent salary increase mandated by the state. The superintendent's salary is included in the increase as well.

The next regular board meeting will be held on Aug. 23, 2007 at 3:30 p.m. at the Central Office.
