Former Franklin County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director Carol Frederick retired nearly three months ago, and it's time to begin looking for another one.
The Franklin County Commission voted Monday to begin advertising immediately to fill the position after updating the job duties and requirements Monday for the first time since 1994.
Deputy Director Roy Gober has been serving as interim director since Frederick retired.
Gober said the EMA director's position has evolved over the years and now includes an active role with the Department of Homeland Security.
The new job description includes a minimum of two years of college-level courses in business or public administration, chemistry, engineering or in other related fields plus five years of progressively responsible experience in emergency response and disaster preparedness or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
