Domestic Violence is a community problem

Safeplace, Inc., the Franklin County Domestic Violence Coalition and the Alabama Coalition Against Domestic Violence presented a training workshop for local law enforcement officials to give them the tools to deal with domestic violence calls.
Domestic violence calls are the most dangerous calls to our local law enforcement and they need to be prepared for the many challenges that await them behind these doors.
Training like yesterday's event is an essential tool to give our officers what they need to help those involved with domestic violence calls.
Fifteen members of Franklin County's law enforcement community attended the workshop. The fact that so many of our officers attended is just one example of how our county officials are working to stop domestic violence in Franklin County.
While law enforcement is making strides in dealing with domestic violence offenders, they cannot do it alone. Everyone in the county should get involved any way that they can. Your involvement can be as simple as helping someone in trouble by calling the police when needed, or as in-depth as volunteering on the Franklin County Domestic Violence Coalition – a board that works toward ending domestic violence in our county.
