Fmi to be featured on Science Channel

For the most part, you had to have a fire place and gas logs in your house to get a glimpse of what goes on inside the Desa Fmi, LLC facility in Russellville.
After tomorrow, all you'll need is a television set.
Desa Fmi, a leading manufacturer of gas logs, mantels and gas inserts, has been tapped by the Science Channel for an appearance on their show, "How It's Made."
"They were calling around, looking for some different products to do a show on," said Sam Scarbrough, plant manager of the Russellville plant. "They got a hold of one of our suppliers and they turned them on to our home office. It just kept going from there."
The show walks through the processes by which diverse everyday products such as snowboards, ice skates, and bubblegum are manufactured. Each half-hour show has four segments, with each product, be it a bagel or a helicopter, getting five minutes.
So far, 104 episodes of "How It's Made" have aired since it began in 2001.
The Science Channel film crew will be on-site Monday morning.
The date for when the Fmi segment will air nationally has not been set, but you can rest assured Scarbrough will be glued to his television set.
"It's kind of funny," he laughed. "I watch that show all the time."
