County United Way trustees to meet

By Staff
Rebecca Walker, Franklin County Times
United Way of Northwest Alabama is holding a meeting June 7 as an orientation session for Franklin County's new United Way trustees.
"Each year several new people come on as a trustee for United Way. At the trustee orientation, new members learn more about United Way and how it works," said Kathy Ransom, administrative associate.
Franklin County has four new trustees being inducted: Kathy Archer, Sarah Beall, Bob Clemmons and Judy Guyton.
To become a trustee, one must be nominated by a current trustee.
The meeting will take place at the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce at 8:30 a.m.
The United Way of Northwest Alabama serves 20 agencies. Each agency serves clients from Franklin County. Included in these agencies are: the Boy Scouts of America, Meals on Wheels, Safeplace, The Healing Place, Hospice of the Shoals, Rape Response, and the Salvation Army.
Trustees must start as volunteers.
"We love volunteers. If anyone wants to volunteer, they can give the office a call," said Ransom. After working as a volunteer, a person may be recommended for trustee position. Trustees are elected in March.
"United Way is kicking off a new campaign at the end of August," said Ransom. "We're hoping individuals and companies in Franklin County will be interested. We always welcome awareness help and support."
