A diploma is a tool not a receipt

By Staff
Franklin County's seniors became high school graduates Friday night, and just like that their lives will begin a new chapter.
Higher education is generally the next step to take, but some will decide to take time off to find themselves.
Others will simply decide to join the workforce.
Regardless of where they are heading, our seniors have the tools to get to where they are going. Franklin County's educators have made sure that they are ready to meet the challenges that lie ahead.
The tools given to you can never be taken away because they have become a part of you and your identity.
An education is the one thing in this world that cannot be taken away once it is given.
You should always cherish your education, and strive to learn more.
This does not have to come in the form of a formal classroom setting. Education can come through job co-op programs, training sessions or paying close attention to life experiences and how they affect you.
Whether you choose to go to college, university or trade school; go directly to work; enter the military or try to discover who you are over the summer, this year's crop of seniors are our future leaders. You've been given a tremendous opportunity and responsibility.
It is our sincere hope that each graduate will always treasure their past achievements and strive for excellence in the future, using their diploma for the tool that it really is.
Congratulations to the Class of 2007.
We wish you the best of luck.
