By Staff
Rebecca James, Franklin County Times
The Russellville City Council voted Monday night to move forward in trying to secure funding for two new weather shelters for the city.
The council voted to seek $92,700 in grant money to help build the two shelters that will hold from 80-120 people in case of inclement weather.
The shelters will accommodate 80 people sitting or 120 people standing.
The city will be responsible for a $25,906 cash match and also for $2500 in labor costs in order to get the funding for the two shelters.
In other business, the council:
* approved the first full weekend in August as a sales tax holiday in an effort to help shoppers with school supply purchases
* approved Invoice #18 Form F25a for submission requesting $27,066 from the FAA; $712 from ALDOT-Aeronautics; and appropriating $712.65 in local money to the Airport Improvement Fund.
* approved the payment of M&W Equipment Invoice #4 on the airport project in the amount of $28,024.20 upon receipt of fund from the FAA and the ALDOT
