    William Robert Ford
    May 16, 2007
    William Robert Ford, 70, of Haleyville, passed away May 16, 2007 at Lakeland Community Hospital.
    He was retired from Premdoor. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio and served in the U.S. Army. It was his wish to be cremated. His father, Howe Robert Ford, preceded him in death.
    Survivors include his wife, Judy Ford, of Haleyville; children, Anna Lisa Ford, of North Carolina, Stephanie Ford, of California, Michelle Patrick, of Haleyville, and Cheryl Patrick, of Denver, Colorado; mother, Loretta J. Ford, of Stewart, Florida; brother, John Ford, of Stewart, Florida; and sister, Bobbi Klein, of North Carolina.
    Pinkard Funeral Home assisted the family.
    Lucille Emerson Wooten
    May 18, 2007
    Lucille Emerson Wooten, 82, of Hodges, passed away May 18, 2007 at Helen Keller Hospital.
    Services were held Monday at Hodges Convention Baptist Church. Bro. George Jones and Bro. Kent Walker officiated. Pallbearers were Kevin Nichols, Scottie Nichols, David Nichols, Shane Fleming, Josh Fleming, and Terry Rich. Burial followed at Old Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
    She was born September 10, 1924 in Vina to Mack C. and Martha Jane Mims Emerson. She was a seamstress and was a member of Hodges Convention Baptist Church. She loved sewing and making quilts. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly and will be greatly missed. Her first husband, Albert Nichols, her second husband, Willie Wooten; her son, Kenneth Nichols; and her brother, Ralph Emerson, preceded her in death.
    Survivors include her sister, Sara Baker, of Hackleburg; daughter-in-law, Jean Nichols, of Hodges; three grandchildren, Scottie Nichols (Lorrie), of Tuscumbia, Kevin Nichols, and David Nichols, both of Hodges; two great-grandchildren, Bethanie Nichols and Baylie Nichols, both of Tuscumbia; 4 step-children, Tommy Wooten and Becky Rich, both of Hamilton, Danny Wooten (Judy) of Vina, and Norma Sterling (Dale) of Hodges; several step-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
    Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay assisted the family.

    May 18, 2007
    Sarah Elmira Gardner, 89, of Haleyville, passed away May 18, 2007 at Lakeland Community Hospital.
    Funeral services were held Sunday at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville. Bro. Hugh Cavender and Bro. Ronnie Marbutt officiated. Burial followed at Winston Memorial Cemetery.
    Her husband, Delma T. Gardner Sr.; her parents, Wylie and Mary Nancy Atkinson; grandchildren, Bobby Lee Long and Kelley Leigh Marbutt; 4 sisters; and 1 brother preceded her in death.
    Survivors include children, Lavane Tillery (Lloyd), Barbara Cavneder (Hugh), Billie Fannin (Terry), Thad Gardner, Nancy Marbutt (Ronnie), and Norma Long (Mike); 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild

    Scott Donald Hamilton
    May 18, 2007
    Scott Donald Hamilton, 36, of Phil Campbell, passed away May 18, 2007 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
    Services were held Monday at Spruce Pine Baptist Church. Bro. Jim Poss officiated. Burial followed in Franklin Memory Gardens.
    He was a life-long resident of Franklin County and a member of Spruce Pine Baptist Church. He was a 1989 graduate of Russellville High School and a 1995 graduate of Auburn University. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Miles Hamilton, Bernice Jones, and Odell Greenhill.
    Survivors include his wife, Deborah Hamilton, of Phil Campbell; son, Jacob Hamilton, of Phil Campbell; daughter Kayla Hamilton, of Phil Campbell; parents, Donald and Peggy Hamilton, of Russellville; sister LaDonna Hamilton, of Montgomery; grandmother, Beulah Greenhill, of Russellville; and several cousins.

    Marie McCarthy
    May 19, 2007
    Marie McCarthy, 79, of Red Bay, passed away May 19, 2007 at Red Bay Hospital. Services were held Monday at the Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay. Bro. Rick Murrell officiated. Pallbearers were Clay McCarthy, Nikolas McCarthy, Kegan McCarthy, Dustin McCarthy, Kevin McCarthy, Marc McCarthy, and Joshua Terry. Burial followed at Red Bay City Cemetery.
    She was born in Centre, Alabama on December 18, 1927 to Melvin and Eula Long Blanton. She owned the Sears Catalog Store in Red Bay for 20 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she taught the Beginner's Sunday School Class for over 30 years. She was also a former Kindergarten teacher at Red Bay School for 10 years. Her husband, Fred McCarthy; her parents; her grandson, Michael McCarthy; and her brother, William Hollis McCarthy, preceded her in death.
    Survivors include three sons, Robert McCarthy, and Steve McCarthy (Sherry), all of Red Bay, and Carlton McCarthy (Linda) of Tuscumbia; 11 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

    Nannie Mildred Smith
    May 20, 2007
    Nannie Mildred Smith, 89, of Russellville, passed away May 20, 2007 at Russellville Health Care.
    Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel in Russellville. Bro. Johnny Richardson officiated. Pallbearers were her grandsons. Burial followed at Franklin Memory Gardens.
    She was a lifelong resident of Franklin County and was a member of Eastside Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert B. Smith; parents, Thurlo and Eva Hester; son, Kenneth O. Smith; grandson, Mark A. Smith; and sister, Austell Smith.
    Survivors include her children, Patsy Gist, Faye Tompkins, Gerald Smith, and Rickey Smith, all of Russellville; sister, Gladys Hellums, of Russellville; grandchildren, Joel Tompkins, Denese Carson, Jana Harbin, Bret Gist, Jason Gist, and David Smith; great-grandchildren, Aaron Harbin, Josh Harbin, Abbey Harbin, Jacob Gist, Jordan Gist, Meleia Gist, Noah Gist, Levi Gist, Shelby Carson, and Reece Carson.
    Harry Copeland Woodruff
    May 21, 2007
    Harry Copeland Woodruff, 80, of Russellville, passed away at home May 21, 2007 after an extended illness.
    Visitation will be today from 9:30-11 a.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville. The service will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Gene Balding officiating. Pallbearers will be Floyd "Sonny" Flanagan, Gene Ellison, Ricky Hall, Gene Pace, Calvin Parmer, and Floyd Tirey. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of the First Baptist Church in Russellville and the Pritchard Sunday School Class.
    He lived most of his life in Franklin County and was a member and a deacon of First Baptist Church in Russellville. He was a 1945 graduate of Russellville High School and served in the Army in Italy shortly after World War II. He enjoyed at 38-year career at TVA as a Medical Technologist in the Division of Medical Services. He was an avid traveler and was a member of Shoals Sams Camping Club. He was also a member of the Double Springs Hunting Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Millie Woodruff and brother, Jack Woodruff.
    Survivors include his high school sweetheart and wife of 61 years, Doris Hendrix Woodruff; son, Rev. Mark Woodruff (Patty), of Bear Creek; sister, Jimmie Woodruff Pilati (Karl), of Russellville; grandchildren, Mark Woodruff Jr., of Woodville, Alabama, Elizabeth Woodruff Hale (Keith), of Bartlett, Tennessee, John Paul Woodruff (Kim), of Phil Campbell; and great-grandchildren, Melissa Hale, Bryant Woodruff, and Benjamin Hale.
    The family would like to thank Hospice of the Shoals for their kind and loving care, as well as the four private caregivers who have watched over Harry and loved him as their own for over 15 months.

    May 21, 2007
    Pearl H. Malone, age 80, of Russellville passed away Monday, May 21, 2007. Visitation will be held at Spry Memorial Chapel on Thursday, May 24, 2007 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. The funeral service will follow visitation at 2 p.m. with Brother Ric Chambless officiating. Interment will be in the Franklin Memory Gardens.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer D. Malone; parents, Floyd and Dona Greenhill Horton; and her brother, Obie Horton.
    She is survived by daughter, Patsy Cochran and husband, Billy, of Russellville; son Mike Malone and wife, Beth, of Cinncinnati, Ohio; four grandchildren, Timothy Gamble, Chester Gamble, Steve Malone, and Scott Malone; 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson, Jordan Gamble; three step-grandchildren, Leilani Boyett, Curtis Cochran, Patsy Cochran; six step-great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
