Susanna DeGennaro Dyer
May 10, 2007
Susanna DeGennaro Dyer, 88, of Tupelo, Mississippi, died May 10, 2007 at North Mississippi Medical Center.
She was born September 20, 1918 in New Jersey to Michael and Philomena Lisa DeGennaro. She was a waitress for 20 years and a Baptist.
Her husband, Arthur Dyer, Sr. and an infant daughter, Ann Marie Gianquinto, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held May 13, 2007 at Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay. Bro. Steve Ledbetter officiated. Burial followed at Florence City Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Philomena Moomaw (Bill), of Vina, and Susan Carter, of San Antonio; two sons, Joseph Giaguinto, (Beth), Cape Coral, Florida, and Arthur Dyer Jr. (Debbie), Ft. Worth, Texas; two sisters, Rena Calvano and Victoria DeGennaro, both of Homedale, New Jersey; 1 brother, Bito DeGennaro, of Florida; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers include her grandsons, Michael Moomaw, Robert Moomaw, Brian Moomaw, and Anthony Hanson.
Deaton Funeral Home assisted the family.
Betty Jean Carpenter

Betty Jean Carpenter, of Phil Campbell, went home to be with the Lord Saturday May 12 at her residence with her family by her side.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Church of God of the Prophesy in Sheffield with Rev. Jim Williams officiating. Internment was at Colbert Memorial Gardens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Teddy Ray Carpenter; parents, Joseph and Tema Ann Chambers Newberry; 5 brothers,; 4 sisters; and one granddaughter.
She is survived by daughters, Karen J. Cooper, of Phil Campbell, and Amy C. Carpenter, of Tuscaloosa; son, David D. Carpenter, of Tuscumbia; brothers, Avery Newberry, of Allons, Tennessee, Joseph Newberry, of Vermilion, Ohio; sister, Vauldeen Bucksar, of Medina, Ohio; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and 28 nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Earl Davis, Gerald Wigginton, Bob Collins, Tommy Holms, Mark Williams, and Charles Clement.

Marilynn "Pat" R. Upton

Marilynn "Pat" R. Upton, 69, of Russellville, passed away May 13, 2007.
The visitation will be held today at Spry Memorial Chapel from 12-2 p.m. The 2 p.m. memorial service will follow in the funeral home chapel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, JOhn Crooks and Teresa Merli Crooks.
She is survived by her husband, Harry Upton; children, Steven Upton (Maureen), David Upton, Stacey Stalcup (Stephen), and Mark Upton (Tianna); sister, Nancy SPadaro; 7 grandchildren, Heather Stalcup, Sarah Upton, Nikki Stalcup, Katie Upton, Alexis Stalcup, Meghan Upton, and Connor Upton.

Charles J. Adair

Charles J. Adair, 69, of Haleyville, died May 12 at his residence.
He was born in Winston County, and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.
Services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville. Burial followed at Frost Chapel Cemetery.
He is survived by his children, Randy Adair, of Double Springs, Cindy Youngblood, of Moreland, Alabama, Deborah Adair, of Hamilton, and Don Adair, of Ashridge; brother, Verbon Adair, of Haleyville; 5 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Pinkard Funeral Home of Haleyville assisted the family.
Helen Brewer Mayhall

Helen Brewer Mayhall, Phil Campbell, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday May 15, 2007 at her residence.
Visitation will be held at Spry Memorial Chapel in Russellville on Thursday from 12-2 p.m. The 2 p.m. funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Brian Scott officiating. Burial will be in Phil Campbell City Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Duell Mayhall; parents, Henry and Ada Burnell Brewer; brothers, Gary and Henry Ford Brewer; sisters, Ruth Britton, Shellie Sherer, Hyacinth Lawler, Sibyl Carpenter, and 1 great nephew, Leon Sherrill, Jr.
She is survived by 2 nephews, one of whom she always referred to as her son, Wade Sherrill; 4 nieces; 5 great nephews; 1 great niece; 7 great great nephews; 5 great great nieces; and a special care-giver, Linda Correll.
She was a member of Phil Campbell 1st Baptist Church. She really loved children, and worked in the nursery at First Baptist for many years. She was a past member of the Phil Campbell City Council, past member of the Housing Authority, a founding member of the Phil Campbell Medical Board, former member of the Phil Campbell Cemetery Board (she worked diligently to make sure the cemetery was attractive and orderly) A special thanks to Good Samaritan Hospice for their loving care given to Aunt Helen.
