Arbie Bohannon McClain Simpson, 84, of Golden, Mississippi, died May 5,2007 at her residence.
She was born March 12, 1923 in Alabama to Willie and Phrony Bohannon. She was a factory worker for 20 years and was a member of the Church of God of Palestine,
Funeral services were held May 7, 2007 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay. Bro. Greg Pace officiated. Burial followed at Old Burleson Cemetery.
Her first husband, Headley J. McClain; her parents; brothers, Lee, John, Arlie, and Archie Bohannon; and her sister, Maggie Elrod, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur Simpson, of Golden, Mississippi; children, Margaret Miller (Junior), of Golden, Mississippi, and W.T. "Buddy" McClain, of Golden, Mississippi; grandchildren, Sonya Miller, of Fulton, Mississippi, Nathan Miller (Allison) of Golden, Mississippi, Renea Ginn (Chris), of Red Bay, Heather Hill (Clay), of Plantersville, Mississippi, and Jerritt McClain, of Golden, Mississippi; great-grandchildren, Tonya Allen (Josh), of Belmont, Mississippi, Bradley, Kalynn, and Leigh Anne Miller, of Golden, Mississippi, Ashley, Amber, and Alicia Ginn, of Red Bay, Tosha and Kevin Pharr, of Golden, and John McClain, of Golden, Mississippi; great-great grandchild, Celestial Allen, of Belmont, Mississippi; sister, Maudie White, of Red Bay; step children, Ronald Simpson,(Shirley), Carolene Johnson, Joey Simpson (Peggy), Jennie Murray(Arthur); 10 step-grandchildren,; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers included Nathan Miller, Bradley Miller, Jerritt McClain, Kevin Pharr, Danny Chestnut, Charlie Cleveland, and Mike Grissom.
Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay assisted the family.
Mary Leah Simmons Moore Washburn
May 3, 2007
Mary Leah Simmons Moore Washburn, 68, Haleyville, passed away May 3, 2007 at her home.
She was retired from City Pharmacy, and was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held May 5, 2007 at New Prospect Baptist Church in Haleyville. Bro. Ron Horton officiated with burial following at the adjoining cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard L. and Erma Leah Simmons, and brothers, Haskel Simmons, and Hewitt Simmons.
Survivors include her husband, Warren G. Washburn; daughter, Karen Moore, of Haleyville; son, Dwight Washburn, of Haleyville; brothers, Ralph Simmons, of Missouri, Kirby Simmons, of Georgia, Jack Simmons, of Huntsville, and Robert Simmons, of Minnesota; sisters, Brenda Simmons Simonds, of Georgia, and Betty Simmons Papile, of Muscle Shoals; grandson, Jason Washburn; sister-in-law, Grace Simmons, of Birmingham; brother-in-laws, Gilbert Washburn, of Tuscumbia, and Everett Washburn, of Georgia; and a host of relatives and friends.
Pinkard Funeral Home of Haleyville assisted the family.
David Ralph Hyde
May 4, 2007
David Ralph Hyde, 65, of Spruce Pine, passed away May 4, 2007 at his home.
He was a native of Florence and had lived in Spruce Pine for the past 30 years. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He was retired from Lockheed Martin and Union Carbide and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Machinists.
Funeral services were held May 6 at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville. Bro. Clint Busler and Bro. Mark Woodruff officiated. Burial followed at Franklin Memory Gardens.
His parents, T.J. and Irma Hyde, and a granddaughter, Bridgette L. Jones, preceded him in death.
Survivors include Linda Wells Hyde, of Spruce Pine; son, David W. Hyde (Melissa) of Madison; daughter, Debe Jones, of Spruce Pine; sisters, Beatrice Biggers (Bill), of Florence, and Betty Ventre (Andrew), of Huntsville; grandchildren, Hannah L. Jones, Olivia L. Jones, Samuel L. Jones, David Austin Hyde, Curran L. Hyde, and Hailey Grace Hyde; and niece, Jonell Johnson.
Pallbearers were Stanley Swinney, Kip Wells, Doyle Martin, and Jimmy Bragwell.
Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville assisted the family.
Opal Spencer King

Opal Spencer King, 76, of Russellville, died May 6, 2007 at Terrace Manor Nursing Home.
She was a lifelong resident of Franklin County and a member of James Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. She was a LPN and retired from Red Bay Hospital with 28 years of service.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel in Russellville. Bro. Eugene Digby and Bro. Carl Gaston officiated. Burial followed at Dempsey Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Shannon C. King; her parents, John Alvin and Cora Spencer; and her brother, James Alvin Spencer.
Survivors include daughters, Sharon Allen (Sonny), and Wanda Hargett (Ricky), both of Russellville; sisters, Mary Lee Franks (Larry) and Brenda Hamilton (Gene), both of Russellville; grandchildren, Brandi Hargett Wills, Lori Allen Tompkins (Toby), Eric Hargett, Lucy Allen, and Abby Hargett; great-grandchildren, Drew Wills, Douglas Tompkins, and Riley Hargett; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Brian Hamilton, Greg Hamilton, Eric Hargett, Toby Tompkins, Randy King, and Talmadge Lewey. Pinkard Funeral Home of Russellville assisted the family.
Martha Ann Green

Martha Ann Green, 70, of Russellville, died May 7, 2007 at Shoals Hospital.
She was a native of Franklin County and was a member of the West Highland Baptist Church. She was retired from the H.D. Lee Plant. Funeral services were held May 8 at the Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel in Russellville. Thomas Thornton and Jason Green officiated. Burial followed at the Knights of the Pythias Cemetery.
Her husband, J.C. Green; her brother, Roy Hill; and her sister, Bernice Vincent, preceded her in death. Survivors include sons, Bennie Ray Green, of Paducah, Kentucky, and Jerry Wayne Green, of Russellville; brothers, Thuman Hill, of Littleville, and Jerry Hall, of New Mexicol sisyer, Jo Evelyn Hill, of New Jersey; 3 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Dick Smith, Ted Green, Billy Green, Terry Green, Russell Woodruff, Jeff Woodruff, Danny Joe Stowe, and Tim Wilson. Pinkard Funeral Home assisted the family.
