Red Bay adopts sales tax holiday to help parents of students

RED BAY – The Red Bay City Council voted to implement a sales tax holiday for the first weekend in August for school supply items during their regular council meeting Monday night at the Senior Citizen's Building.
The ordinance states that school supply items will be exempt from the municipal sales and use tax Aug. 3-5, 2007. Act 2006-574, generally known as the state sales tax holiday legislation, authorized the ordinance.

Before adjourning, Mayor Reid announced that May 21-15 would be free clean up week in Red Bay.
Residents are encouraged to put their rubbish out with their regular trash that week for free disposal. The next Red Bay City Council meeting will be held May 21 at 7 p.m. at the Senior Citizen's Building.
