A Phil Campbell man is expected to face drug trafficking charges in federal court after officials with the Franklin County Sheriff's Department and the District Attorney's office seized $40,000 in drugs late Friday afternoon.
Investigators executed a search warrant at Lot 2 in Cooper's Trailer Park on Franklin 81 in Phil Campbell where Alejandro Pena, 31, resides, Franklin County Sheriff Larry Plott said.
"Ten ounces of methamphetamine and two ounces of cocaine were found at the residence in Phil Campbell," Plott said.
Investigators said that evidence of meth production was found at the residence, including aluminum foil and portable heaters, which is used in the process of making meth.
Pena was arrested Thursday afternoon in Morgan County with 1.5 pounds of meth and three ounces of cocaine, which led investigators to seek a search warrant for his home in Franklin County, Plott said.
Pena was charged with trafficking meth and cocaine in Morgan County, and is currently in still custody there, Plott said.
"The trafficking charges for Pena are expect to be filed in federal court for both Morgan and Franklin counties," District Attorney Joey Rushing said.
Drug trafficking is a Class A felony which is punishable by 10 years to life in prison, according the Alabama Criminal Code.
