Hello, from Orlando, Florida

By Staff
Melissa Cason, Franklin County Times
In case you have not noticed, I have been away from the office for a week, vacationing in Florida with my family.
When I am at work, I tend to go 90 to nothing.
I am always on the go, but rest assured that I would not have it any other way.
With that said, I can say that I get tired sometimes because I always try to give it 110 percent while I am on the clock.
While this is good for my career, it is not always good for me or my family.
While I consider my hours very fair, my kids think that I tend to spend too much time at work.
My oldest son, Jordan, asked me once why I work late into the night. He is referring to my time going to city council meetings and other functions as needed.
I explained to him that it is my job to help inform everyone in the county about what is going on in the world.
But, he usually looks at me and laughs or rolls his eyes-yes my oldest has learned to roll his eyes at me and it's very annoying.
This time that I have taken to have fun, shop and get some sun will refresh me to go ninety to nothing again.
I love what I do, and I find that when you love something it's easy to get caught up in the excitement and the drama of doing it.
It's easy to forget that you have two children who miss me when I am not home.
When I am at work, I am so wrapped up in what I am doing I just simply forget.
I don't forget that I have children, and I don't forget that I love them, I just forget about everything that's not work related so I can focus on my work.
While that's not exactly a good thing, it's not a bad thing either. More people should love their job and look forward to reporting for duty each day.
I know that when I am not at work, I miss the excitement of conducting interviews, and getting the scoop.
While I don't plan on slowing down anytime soon, it was really nice that I had time to be with my kids and with Jimmy because in 10 years, who knows where we'll all be.
For all you who actually missed me being nosy, I'll see you bright and early Monday morning.
