Dinner-table staple to aid in local projects

By Staff
Jason Cannon, Franklin County Times
The people of Franklin County have high expectations for how high the county potential may reach.
To realize that potential, many local organizations – both public and private – are scraping together dollars they hope will be channeled to their cause.
However, too many worthy causes can dilute funding so dinner table giant Hamburger Helper is coming to the rescue.
As part of their "My Hometown Helper" campaign, the company is looking for worthy local cause to lend some financial assistance. Several Franklin County causes have already jumped on board.
Russellville
The Russellville Youth football league has requested $8,000 to renovate the youth football field.
City of Russellville has requested $8,500 to upgrade the Pee Wee football field and lighting.
The City of Russellville Parks and Recreation Department has requested $6,000 to promote youth and adult leisure activities in the community, which would include upgrades at the youth soccer and softball field.
Red Bay
The City of Red Bay has requested $10,000 to help finance the town's 100th Anniversary celebration this year and $6,000 to purchase 35 banners for the town.
The Dixie Youth Baseball program has requested $15,000 for playground equipment that would be placed adjacent to the city's ball fields.
Of the six local projects listed, the push for the banners in Red Bay is well out front with 75 comments.
Local residents have to opportunity to, log on to the project's websie and comment on why they fell their project is the most worthy.
You can log on to www.myhometownhelper.com, click on "Find a Project" and type in the city you would like to comment on.
So far, Hamburger Helper has doled out $83,500 to 21 hometowns.
