West Elementary School recently recognized the winners of their parental involvement poster contest.
Students in all grades were encouraged to create a poster, with the help of their parents, showing the importance of parental involvement in education, WES counselor Michelle Hester said.
"The winning poster will be sent to Montgomery to compete in the state competition," Hester said.
The poster that competes in the state competition will have a chance to be apart of a calendar, and a chance to win a $500 gift card, Hester said.
"All our students are winners because they did a great job," Hester said.
To celebrate the children's achievement, a popcorn party was provided for the children Friday.
During the judging, a first, second, and third place posters along with two honorable mentions were recognized Friday as well.
First-grader Madison Hargett took the first place prize, second-grader Tristan Patrick won second place, and kindergartener Tanner James placed their in the contest, Hester said.
The two honorable mention awards were given to Luke Patrick, kindergarten, and David Freemon, first grade.
The winner in Montgomery will be the theme for the statewide parental involvement in October, and will appear on billboards across the state.
