Russellville police arrested a Colbert County man this week on rape charges, chief Chris Hargett said.
RPD Investigator Capt. David Hester said Bruce B. Bonds, Jr., 21, of 1190 Ligon Springs Road in Tuscumbia, was arrested and charged with second-degree rape, a Class B felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison upon conviction.
Hester said Bonds is accused of having sex with a 14-year-old girl. Bonds is not accused of forcing the girl to have sex, Hester said.
Hester said the alleged rape took place while Bonds was visiting the girl in Russellville.
The case will be presented to an upcoming grand jury. Bonds was in Franklin County Jail at press time.
