Oilers rally for win over Saints

HEIDELBERG The Oilers rallied from a 14-6 first quarter deficit and defeated St. Andrew's 28-14 on Friday night in round two of the Class 2A playoffs.
Heidelberg (8-4) will host East Marion in the second round of the playoffs. Raphael Jones got the Oilers on the board with a 56-yard run at the 5:56 mark of the first quarter. The try for two failed.
St. Andrew's got a 54-yard touchdown pass and a 1-yard for a score in the first quarter to take a 14-6 lead.
In the second quarter, Nathan May caught a 54-yard touchdown pass from Darius Dear at the 3:52 mark. The Oilers took the lead on the final play of the third quarter. Jones scored on a 5-yard run and Dear rushed for the two-point conversion. The score was set up by a 63-yard run by Kendall Cooper.
Dear ended the scoring with a 34-yard run with 6:24 left.

Gene Anderson scored two touchdowns for East Marion on Friday as the Eagles knocked Philadelphia from the playoffs with a 19-7 win.
Anderson's first score, which came on a five-yard run, put East Marion up 7-0 in the first quarter. Talmer Burnside countered for the Tornadoes with a five-yard touchdown run of his own in the second quarter for a 7-7 tie at halftime.
But Richard McClendon tacked on a one-yard touchdown run for East Marion in the third quarter, and Anderson put the game away for the Eagles with a 62-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Franklin County 33
Forest 14
Forest suffered its first loss of the year on Friday, exiting the Class 3A playoffs after a 33-14 defeat at the hands of Franklin County.
After being shut out in the first half, Forest's second-half rally came up short. Brad Ellis put Forest on the board in the third quarter with a 60-yard touchdown run that trimmed Franklin County's lead to 26-8.
Franklin County (11-1) countered early in the fourth quarter on D.J. Shaw's three-yard touchdown run, giving his team a 33-7 advantage. Forest never threatened Franklin County's lead, but did manage a 37-yard touchdown pass from Keith Brown to Michael Townsend late in the game.
Forest finished the season at 11-1.

A touchdown scored as time expired in the first half proved to be the difference for South Choctaw Academy on Friday as the Rebels topped Escambia Academy 52-44.
South Choctaw quarterback Josh Adams hit Gary Skinner for a 12-yard touchdown pass on the final play of the second quarter to give the Rebels a 36-16 halftime lead. It was one of Skinner's two touchdown receptions and one of three touchdowns scored in the second quarter for South Choctaw, which held Escambia scoreless over the same period.
But EA scored two touchdowns in the third quarter and two more in the fourth to tie the score, tying the score at 44. With two minutes left in the game, Justin Mason broke open a wide receiver reverse for a 16-yard touchdown run that gave South Choctaw the win.
Logan Johnson and Josh Adams each scored one touchdown apiece, and Dusty Welford scored two for the Rebels (8-3), which will face Pickens Academy (9-2) on Friday.
