Bowling hired as Russellville attorney

The law firm of Bedford, Rogers and Bowling was hired Monday night by the city council to provide a city attorney for Russellville. The council accepted the resignation of Danny McDowell, who resigned late last week due to conflicts between council meetings and family activities.
Jeff Bowling was present Monday night for his first official meeting.
In other action, the council voted to approve a new policy governing the use of city vehicles that prohibits employees from driving the vehicles outside the police jurisdiction of the city except on official city business.
Under the new policy, city vehicles will not be issued to employees whose residences are outside the police jurisdiction.
City building and license inspector Bruce Foreman said the policy will necessitate building and construction inspections to be held between the hours of 8:15 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
