Our View – Congrats on success of parties

By Staff
As we've said in this space before, nothing cheers people up like a good party.
It's comforting to know in this day and age of the Internet and a world of high-tech entertainment, we in Franklin County still enjoy getting together for some shopping, singing and socializing.
Two of our local communities did just that over the weekend, with the Red Bay Founders Fest and the annual Spruce Pine Day on the mountain in Spruce Pine.
First of all, what wonderful weather we had for these two events. With a touch of fall coolness and an abundance of sunshine, nobody could complain that the weather kept them away from these two annual get-togethers.
From the looks of the crowds on hand for these events, it would seem they were both a complete success. Car shows, food vendors, flea-market type booths, games for kids, and all kinds of other activities were buzzing with people enjoying the day in both communities.
We've said repeatedly that we're in favor of anything that is good for Franklin County's communities, and events like these certainly are. They bring in visitors and money for the local economy, plus they're just fun and good for morale.
But events like these don't just happen. They take hard work by a large number of individuals who organize, plan and invite folks to come be a part of the event.
We applaud those folks for their vision and their desire to help their towns.
The effort was well worth it, with two successful parties, and we congratulate everyone involved!
