Autumn Classic wraps up

The 12th annual Rush Autumn Classic Soccer Tournament wrapped up on Sunday at the Jaycees Soccer Complex.
Two Meridian boys' recreation teams, one Meridian girls' squad and four Laurel girls teams walked away with first place trophies from the two-day tourney, which is hosted by the Meridian Youth Soccer Organization and sponsored by Rush Foundation Hospital.
The MYSO Crowe captured first place in the under-10 boys' division, and the MYSO Nukes took first in the under-12 boys' bracket.
The MYSO Chaos won the under-12 girls' division. The Laurel Jones County Soccer Association Shockers won the under-10 division; LJCSA Erocs won the under-14 division and LJCSA Futbol Club won the under-19 division.
The Autumn Classic attracted 34 teams from age groups under-8 to under-19 to Meridian over the weekend.
The under-8 bracket had eight teams play in a jamboree in which scores were not recorded and every player received a trophy.
Crowe and the MYSO Wolves produced one of the best games of the tournament when the teams hooked up in the under-10 boys championship game on Sunday.
Crowe won the game 4-3 scoring late in the second overtime of the championship match. Crowe also recorded wins of 7-3 over MYSO Rattlers, 3-0 against MYSO Scorpions and 13-1 against FYSA Drillers.
The Wolves defeated the Scorpions 8-4, the Drillers 11-3 and the Rattlers 8-4 in pool play.
In other under-10 boys' matches, the Rattlers defeated MSYO Reed 4-3 and the Drillers 5-2, and the Scorpions defeated Reed 5-2.
The LJCSA Shockers won the under-10 girls' division, which was played in round-robin format. The Shockers scored wins of 16-0 over MYSO Lighting, 14-4 over LJCSA Flame, 12-1 over MYSO Thunder and 4-1 over MYSO Hurricanes.
The Flame, which took second in the division, defeated the Hurricanes 6-2, the Lightning 19-0 and the Thunder 7-0.
In other under-10 girls' matches, the Hurricanes defeated the Thunder 4-0 and the Lightning 3-2, and the Thunder defeated the Lightning 7-3.
The Nukes downed the MYSO Rapids 4-0 to win the under-12 boys' division. The Nukes also picked up wins of 4-1 against the Rapids in pool play, 4-2 over LJCSA Big Red and 6-2 over MYSO Colts.
The Rapids, who took second place, defeated NCYSO Warriors 7-0 and MYSO Knights 5-2. In other under-12 boys action, MYSO Colts beat NCYSO Warriors 3-2 and MSYO Knights 1-0; MSYO Knights beat NCYSO Warriors 3-2; LJCAS Big Red defeated NCYSO Warriors 3-2; and LJCSA Big Red and MYSO Knights played to a scoreless tie.
The under-12 girls' division was played in round-robin format, with MYSO Chaos defeating MYSO Crush 1-0 and tying MYSO Storm 3-3 to in the division. MYSO Crush took second with its win over MSYO Storm.
LJCSA Erocs won the under-14 girls' division, which was played in round-robin format, with wins of 2-0 over SWJSL Wipe Out, and 6-0 over NCYSO. LJCSA Erocs tied LJCSA Blaze at 0-0, but they won by goal differential.
LJCSA Blaze defeated NCYSO 5-1 and tied SWJSL Wipe Out 2-2 to take second place. In other 14-under girls' action, SWJSL Wipe Out defeated NCYSO 4-0.
LJCSA Futbol Club won the under-19 girls' division with a 4-2 win over MSYO Uhl. The under-19 girls' bracket was supposed to have three teams in it, but CJSO Mickens did not show up for the tournament.
